Los Angeles Lawyer

The Los Angeles County Bar Association is the largest metropolitan bar association in the country. Being so, they find it’s their responsibility to assist Los Angeles lawyers with the increasing stress their firms have suffered due to global economic downturn. Hundreds of law school graduates and third year law student have lost their jobs or had their job offers withdrawn or delayed.

The LACBA also has a responsibility to the largest and best trial court in the world. Los Angeles Super Court operates in 49 courthouses, has 600 judicial officers and tens of thousands of people come to court every day. The gap between population growth and judicial positions continues to widen, resulting in overwhelming caseloads with judicial officers underpaid. Unless something changes the lawyers in Los Angeles will begin to diminish causing a reduction in services. LACBA is committed to helping where they can and serving their members.

LACBA is stepping up and organizing programs for LA lawyers with a panel of experienced legal recruiters to discuss the legal market, jobs available, active practice areas, resume and interviewing tips, how to make themselves marketable or start a new law firm.

250 Los Angeles lawyers and law students attended the program all of which was positive. They created online services to allow participants to share information, job seeking, resume development as well as other no legal advice for personal and family issues. The forum is open to associated members along with lawyer nonmembers seeking career support.

LACBA is a service organization and to retain and attract new members programs must be offered and the services must be valuable to be worth the membership. LACBA has 16,000+ lawyers and due to their recent move downtown LA has invested in technology to permit them to use the internet to transmit training manuals, briefings and courses. Webinars or Webcasting may be used to distribute recordings for lawyers to watch in their office or home.

A large segment of Los Angeles lawyers have solo practices in which they specialize in a certain area of law. This new technology will allow specialized or senior members to distribute valuable information to young or newer members.
